Lauren Briggs
Lauren Briggs is a Sydney-based author-illustrator and designer whose love of storytelling was sparked in childhood — climbing trees and crafting stories with her sisters in the kind of imaginative world that never quite leaves you.
Lauren studied a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communications at UTS, specialising in illustration, design, and photography, and was selected to study at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. After working in design and photography in London, she returned to Sydney to establish her own freelance design practice before finding her way into children's literature.
Lauren illustrated her first picture book, Stories for Simon (Random House Australia, 2015), written by Lisa Miranda Sarzin and endorsed by Adam Goodes, recognised for its contribution to reconciliation education. She went on to write and illustrate Little Pago (Boolarong Press, 2021), a visually rich and emotionally resonant story exploring the impact of plastic pollution on marine life. Both books reflect her belief that picture books are among the most powerful tools we have for building empathy and exploring the issues that shape our world.
An advocate for literacy, Indigenous education, and environmental awareness, Lauren is the past President of the CBCA NSW – Eastern Suburbs Branch and a member of SCBWI. She lives in Sydney with her husband and four children.
